Stephen A. Morash Bio
Stephen A. Morash is the Manager of Emergency Planning and Response for the Boston University Medical Center, Boston Medical Center and Boston University’s Charles River Campus and the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory.
Mr. Morash is responsible for developing proactive plans and procedures for the management of emergency and disaster related incidents, managing ongoing threat, vulnerability and risk assessment projects, and providing training and educational sessions for staff and community members on all aspects of emergency management and BUMC coordination with external emergency management agencies and first responders. These activities include being the chair of the BUMC Emergency Management Planning Committee, chair of the NEIDL Emergency Planning Committee and a member of the NEIDL Emergency Response Team.
Prior to assuming his position at Boston University, Mr. Morash completed a 30 year career with the city of Boston, 24 years with the Boston Fire Department and the last ten as Deputy Director of the Boston Emergency Management Agency. In that role, Mr. Morash conducted hazard assessments, developed response plans for the city, and developed, conducted and participated in multi-jurisdictional exercises. Over the last ten years, Mr. Morash has been involved in numerous activations of the city’s Emergency Operations Center during disasters and planned events. Steve has been responsible for coordinating the city’s response plans for the West Nile Virus the World Trade Center Attack on September 11th, 2001, April Fool’s Snow Storm of 1997, Floods of June 1998, as well as the planning the Boston First Night Celebration, Boston Marathon, Fourth of July Esplanade Celebration, Tall Ships and the Democratic National Convention.
He is a current member of the American Biological Safety Association, the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Massachusetts Association of Emergency Management Professionals.
Steve, Donna and their daughter Emily reside on Standish Road. He is a Milton Town Meeting Member from Precinct 2, Chairman of the Milton Democratic Town Committee and President of the Milton Foundation for Education’s Board of Trustees.
